Reporting to the SVP, Total Rewards, this role has accountability for leading the design, development and execution of Yahoo’s global compensation programs, processes and initiatives. This includes overall compensation philosophy and strategy, salary and annual incentive planning, compensation analysis and job architecture, sales compensation, executive compensation and long-term incentives as well as other ad hoc recognition programs.

The position requires someone with a hands-on approach to ensure programs are well-designed and aligned with the business strategy and company culture and a track record of building the trusted cross-functional partnerships required to succeed in serving the business. The VP, Global Compensation will contribute meaningfully to program and policy design for the full scope of Total Rewards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Yahoo's overarching Compensation Strategy, connecting fully to our Talent Management Strategy

  • Drive innovative and market-responsive compensation approaches that are both scalable and impactful

  • Partner closely with senior business leaders and HR partners to effectively align rewards decisions and strategies that meet those needs

  • Provide comprehensive and value-added consulting support and thought leadership in all areas of reward and recognition to meet the demands of a competitive marketplace while ensuring fair and equitable pay

  • Lead requirement setting for global compensation benchmarking and related analytics to proactively evaluate the competitiveness of our compensation program; making recommendations for adjustments as necessary

  • Own reporting requirements for Compensation-related insights using data from a variety of sources and designing dashboards to serve clients

  • In partnership with HR colleagues, reimagine our job architecture to align with Yahoo’s talent strategy

  • Lead the design and own the execution of company-wide annual compensation processes

  • Develop employee compensation communications strategies and collaborates with internal teams for implementation

  • Develop key cross-functional partnerships across the organization, including working with global finance on headcount planning, budgeting and forecasting; and with legal to ensure compliance of our programs

  • Manage and deepen partnerships with key vendors and external partners that will enrich our thinking and programs with industry insights and ensure that our programs remain competitive

  • Lead the compensation team, including SMEs in executive and sales compensation, ensuring ongoing development; provides constructive and timely performance feedback

About you:

  • You have a demonstrated track record of progressive leadership in global compensation strategy, preferably within the high tech/internet/media industry both pre-IPO and post-IPO settings and ideally with PE ownership experience

  • Demonstrated ability to craft and implement forward-thinking compensation approaches to support business objectives and employee needs.

  • Ability to focus on critical objectives that add the most value and deliver results

  • Growth mindset and “can do” attitude; operate with an employee-centric approach

  • Have operated successfully within a matrixed global organization (HR shared services model)

  • Must be able to work and partner exceptionally well from a virtual perspective

  • Executive presence and polished communication skills

  • Experience of presenting to executive committees and boards

  • Has a track record of building strong teams while being a player coach

The compensation for this position ranges from $218,750.00 - $406,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives. Yahoo has a high degree of flexibility around employee location and hybrid working. In fact, our flexible-hybrid approach to work is one of the things our employees rave about.
