The IT Data Governance Lead will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing our data governance program. This role involves working with IT colleagues, Stewards, and business partners in establishing policies, defining best practices, rolling out governance technologies, and enforcing compliance across the organization. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of data management, data analytics, and possess the ability to work closely with business stakeholders to mature the governance program.

As a IT Data Governance Lead, a typical day might include the following:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, availability, and privacy of the company's data across multiple domains.
  • Perform a current state assessment with Functional Data Owners, Data Stewards, and the IT organization to calibrate, discuss and identify a path forward to resolve Data Governance and Data Quality issues.
  • Lead the selection and implementation of data governance tools and technologies to support data quality, metadata management, data cataloging and data lineage.
  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to establish data standards, data stewardship, and data ownership models.
  • Monitor compliance with data governance policies and standards, conducting regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
  • Facilitate training and awareness programs to promote a culture of data accountability and compliance across the organization.
  • Provide guidance and support to data stewards and data owners in the execution of their responsibilities.
  • Ensure continuous and effective communication with relevant team members, stakeholders, and colleagues in relation to data governance & data stewardship activities.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in data governance to continuously refine and enhance the governance program.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to improve data quality, efficiency, and value creation from the organization’s data assets.
  • Continuously monitor progress (with particular focus on Data Quality critical metrics) and track benefit realization of use cases and the delivery of intended results.
  • Participate in process improvement teams which utilize a risk-based approach to improving data used by the company to make decisions.
  • Collaborate with other members of the IOPS Data Governance Counsel to centralize the digital data governance initiatives and Stewardship program.

This role may be for you if have:

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality standards, and data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Experience with data governance tools and technologies (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Talend, Acryl).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, collaborate influence and drive adoption with business stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage projects, with a track record of successful implementation and adoption of data governance initiatives.
  • Adaptive and flexible, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong familiarity with current good manufacturing practice (CGMP) for drugs (ie. United States Title 21, Code of Federal Regulations, Parts 210, 211 and 212) and PIC/S Guidance highly desirable.

In order to be considered for this position, you must hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is required and a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in data governance, master data and data management and Data Stewardship . Experience within a pharmaceutical manufacturing (GMP) or healthcare environment is preferred.

Salary Range (annually)

$104,300.00 - $170,100.00
