As part of the corporate Executive Compensation team and reporting to the Director, Executive Compensation, this role is responsible for leading the executive compensation process and governance which includes annual executive compensation cycles and manage the governance of executive compensation plans. You will partner with key stakeholders across P&C and the business, to understand business needs, translate these into detailed requirements, and identify areas for opportunity and improvement. The Manager, Executive Compensation will also manage other future compensation programs and projects as needed.
a day in the life:
- Lead and oversee the executive compensation process, including year-end and mid-year reviews. Develop and implement compensation strategies, analyze data, and make recommendations to ensure competitive and equitable compensation for executives.
- Collaborate strategically with Talent Acquisition on executive hires and with business partners on compensation matters. Design competitive packages for new hires, address compensation issues, and facilitate discussions to ensure alignment with market standards and internal equity.
- Manage the governance of the executive compensation plan, acting as a project manager for work related to the People, Culture and Compensation Committee and partnering with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver clear communications regarding executive compensation programs, policies, and changes to executives and other stakeholders.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to existing executive compensation programs. Research and benchmark executive compensation offerings to ensure competitiveness and alignment with industry standards.
- Mentor colleagues with no direct reporting, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Manage and lead future compensation programs and projects as needed
qualifications:
- 8 - 10 years of experience in compensation, ideally in publicly traded companies
- Post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g., finance, HR)
- Requires significant executive compensation understanding in order to deliver successful programs that are aligned to our compensation philosophies
- Project management experience is preferred
- Experience in HRIS (Workday ideal) back-end with a curiosity on how the back-end data comes together
- Experience in providing consultation to managers, employees, and business partners across a matrixed environment
- Effective communication and change management skills
- Highly proficient in Excel and building Powerpoint decks
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize workload
- Detail-oriented and committed to a high degree of accuracy

This role is classified as Hybrid under our SSC Workplace Policy: In-person collaboration is important, and much of the role can be performed remotely. Work is performed onsite at least 3 days per week.
