Job Description

THE POSITION
The role, Associate Director, Public Affairs, is a leadership role that will require good understanding of business needs and be responsible for planning, developing and execution of communication initiatives in South Korea, ranging from reputation & issues management, media relations, patient advocacy to therapeutic communications.
The position will report directly to the Senior Director, Public Affairs, Asia 5.
The candidate will be a regular member of the South Korea Leadership Team and will be required to work with cross functions, leaders from regional and global teams.
JOB DUTIES
Corporate Reputation
Develop a 360-degree communication strategy to tell the story of our science, access & health equity, people & culture, and Gilead’s long-term commitment to South Korea
Responsible for developing & managing corporate website and other corporate materials in South Korea
Monitor and mitigate potential issues that may damage our reputation
Media Relations
Oversee media relation strategy including mapping and building relationships with key media, opinion leaders, assessing opportunities and relevant influencers such as HCPs, health agencies, PAGs
Prepare Gilead spokesperson for interviews & public speaking opportunities
Serve as Gilead press office in South Korea, with agency support
Patient Advocacy
Responsible for mapping, tracking and engaging patient advocacy groups, NGOs and community groups for the appropriate sponsorship & partnership opportunities
Develop the grant & donation strategy to enhance our advocacy work, image & reputation
Responsible for overseeing the Gilead grant portal in South Korea
Therapeutic Communications
Partner with Business Unit to develop local Public Affairs plans that showcase our leadership and commitment in HIV, liver diseases and oncology
Advise GM and work closely with commercial and cross-functional teams on areas where Public Affairs can have the greatest impact on stakeholder engagement outcomes
Internal Communications
Support leadership team to showcase priorities and achievement in South Korea
Partner with HR and local employee resource groups for employee engagement initiatives
Work closely with regional and global PA leads to ensure successful rollout of corporate campaigns
SKILLS
At least 10 years solid experience in public affairs, public relations, corporate affairs in a corporation, media or public relations agency
Excellent presentation and writing skills, in both English and Korean
Experienced in working with NGOs, patient advocates and groups will be an advantage
Ability to build strong relationships, even with senior executives
Inclusive, and be able to collaborate cross-functionally
Sound business understanding and judgement
